“On Top” (featuring T. Shirt)
Flume – Flume (2012)
Already famed at SXSW, Fuse TV named Flume on the the 30 must see artists at the Austin, Texas festival. The 21 year old musician from Sydney, Australia is primed to become a sensation in the electronic community. Performing with the stage name Flume, Harley Streton’s self titled album, released in November 2012, is a winter gem, ready to be born again this spring and summer. The electronic music producers first release is loaded with tons of featured artists collaborating with his original content. Anyone with the taste for electronic pop needs to look no further for something new and fresh. This album is bound to bring your summer to the top.
“Recover”
CHVRCHES – Recover EP (2013)
No, this group has no affiliation with the Church. In fact, they chose to avoid confusion why spelling themselves with a “v.” Regardless, this electropop band from Glasgow could become something to praise. Although the band just formed in 2011, their reputation is starting to build. In 2012 they toured with the well known indie rock band Passion Pit. This year BBC included them in their Sound of 2013 poll along with HAIM, AlunaGeorge and more. While their EP Recover, released this March, is short, the tracks they have are worth a listen.
“ProtoVision”
Kavinsky – OutRun (2013)
The French house artist is on track with his first album, OutRun. His notability arose after his hit song “Nightcall” was used in the film Drive, starring Ryan Gosling. Known for his Eighties-esque movie style, Kavinsky has been to compared to many other artists such as Daft Punk. The sounds of OutRun may seem familiar to most people over the age of 20, however, they are warmly received.
“Cirrus”
Bonobo – The North Border (2013)
The British musician Simon Green, known to many by his stage name Bonobo is back in action with his new album The North Border. Known for his driven basslines, Bonobo is a relic in a chain of downtempo electronic artists. Following up the release of Black Sands (2010), Green is has made his newest addition to his album list an evolution of his modern sound. Be prepared to embrace the latest of his musical gift, you are about to get lost as you listen to all of The North Border.
“Lovin”
Millionyoung – Variable (2013)
The indie electronic act from Florida is something new and light, perfect for the spring season. While there hasn’t been much press surrounding Mike Diaz’s musical entity, fans are pleased with his relaxed vibe. Before I enlighten you too much on a promising artist, take a moment to listen to “Variable.” Sit back in your chair, take in some sun, this music was made to relax to.
